Centuries of History and Art have left this city with a unique heritage. Its streets and squares, palaces and churches in which Middle Ages and Renaissance alternate and blend harmoniously together are witnesses of a glorious past. While Florence carefully maintains its Renaissance architecture and culture; the city pulses with life from noisy students in the university quarter to the businessmen who whiz by on Vespas. The rich artistic heritage, the numerous cultural events, and beauty of the surroundings make Florence one of the world's most beautiful cities and a unique centre of attraction for visitors from all over the world. The school is centrally located, in a quiet street next to the main railway station. Linguaviva occupies three floors of a 19th century building.

Lodging options are: families houses, shared or private apartments.

Academics

Diverse programs are offered. The Italian standard course is a half intensive program that leaves time to discover the region or to participate in cultural activities. The one of History of the Art takes place in the afternoons and is available only for students who are registered in a Standard Course. The Italian super intensive course combines the standard (20 classes per week) with 10 individual classes every week to assure a faster progress. Those that wishes to have a more intensive course can decide on the individualized course of Italian.

Activities

Each month the school offers a program of activities organized exclusively for students to have fun, practice their Italian and meet other students. An art historian takes students on excursions to visit museums, world-renown works of art and places of historical interest. Field trips are arranged to other cities in Italy or to local spots known for their beauty. Afternoon lectures on Italian traditions and current events can be listened or Italian films can be watched. It can be learned how to prepare delicious dishes of Italian cuisine. There are many occasions to practice some sports and to enjoy evenings out for dinner or at a disco..
