Description
The institute is located in a magnificent palace of the
17th century, the elegant Palazzo Testa, in the heart
of the historical center, in via Martelli one of the most
beautiful streets of Florence, that takes to Cathedral
Square. From the Institute windows the Cathedral and the
Medici-Riccardi Palace can be admired . On foot, and in
few minutes from the Institute, the main museums and monuments
can be reached.
Lodging
Lodging possibilities are: family houses, shared or
private apartments, hotels or pensions.
Academics
Courses have a maximum number of 10-12 students, with
an average of 6-7 students per class. The groups are
formed according to the effective level of knowledge
of the Italian language of the students, so that they
are homogenous. Each group is assigned to two professors,
each one of them with a concrete pedagogical objective
and to allow the students to listen different voices.
The used method anticipates the official text book and
a lot of didactic material of integration is added:
notes, audio-visual and a text repertoire. The student
can, if he asks for, receives one or more free private
lessons with a professor of the institute, with an afternoon
schedule, if he needs to clarify or improve a subject
already treated in the class. This way the students
can continue the lessons of the group without doubts
and uncertainties.
Activities
Every day cultural and leisure activities are offered.
On Sundays the institute organizes excursions with a
history of the art professor in a private bus to places
of great artistic interest such as Venice, Rome, Ravenna,
Siena, San Gimignano, Lucca, Pisa, Arezzo, Urbino, Perusa,
Assisi... In summer charming places of the coast are
visited such as Le Cinque Terre, Portovenere, Portofino,
Tower of the Lake. The first day of classes and later
every week, a dinner in different Florence typical restaurants
is organized, where, to a truly special price, it is
possible to savor the typical Tuscany specialties with
teachers, Italian students and friends. The institute
also organizes visits to the famous warehouses of the
region of the Chianti. Bicycle stroll by the city, conferences,
films, Italian music, opera evenings , concerts, etc.
