Description
Rome, “The Eternal city”, with its artistic
tradition and its vibrant cultural activities offers a
wide range of opportunities for personal enrichment. Whether
one is intested in art, Italian cuisine, open-air sports,
pubs, discos and so on, Rome is the right place to choose.
It is at the same time a cosmopolitan metropolis with
all the attractions of an European capital as well as
a provincial city with a slow-living lifestyle. The school
is located in a beautiful ancient building in the very
heart of Rome, very near the Coliseum. The school has
large and bright classrooms, and a collection of books
and videotapes.
Academics
The language program finds the corresponding level to
the students of Italian, from beginner to specialized,
it offers classes that emphasize four language skills:
listening, speaking, reading and writing. Lessons are
designed to combine traditional grammar studies with
dynamic linguistic practice such as interactive conversation
and role-playing games reproducing real-life situations.
Particular importance is given to the reading of diverse
texts —from magazines, articles and newspapers
to comic books, advertising and literature pieces-,
to listening exercises, and writing on suggested subjects.
Before the first lesson students are requested to take
an exam in order to be assigned to the level corresponding
to their language skills. In class, and from the first
day, Italian is spoken. Through tests and activities,
the professor stimulates the progress of the student
in speaking, writing, read and listen. At the end of
the course, the student receives an attendance certificate
where the reached level is specified.
Activities
The school organizes several recreational and cultural
activities: guided visits to the greatest monuments
and museums of the city; excursions to the sea, the
lake or the mountain; pizzerias, discos, wine bars,
theater, cinemas, opera; skating in Villa Borghese,
tennis or indoor soccer and races.
