Description
Castagneto Carducci is a town of the Alta Maremma, in
Tuscany, located in front of the Tyrrhenian Sea. It is
well-known like Coast of the Etruscans by the numerous
discovered testimonies of this old and mysterious civilization
. Marina di Castagneto Carducci rises in a dense coastal
pinery around a fort of the 18th century. Today Marina
di Castagneto is one of the most well-known and visited
localities of the Coast of the Etruscans, with numerous
bath establishments and long rows of multicolour parasols.
From north to south, kilometers of free beach offer the
show of the blossoming of the sea lilies and other typical
plants of the zone.
Lodging
The possibility are: single or double rooms in apartments
with shared kitchen with other students of the courses,
apartments with one or two beds in Marina di Castagneto
Carducci, Castagneto Carducci or the field, hotels,
camping and, sometimes, families houses.
Academics
The program is developed through a method that, although
considers the different didactic tendencies, it is based
mainly on an activity of inductive and creative type.
The purpose is to acquire a concrete ability, in the
first place to know how to speak and to listen, later,
specially in the superior courses, to know how to read
and to write. Another communicative skill is that to
stimulate a reflection on the language, on its structure
and rules, avoiding therefore the risk of a knowledge
not related to the effective linguistic use. On the
first day of the course all the students will have to
take level test in order to divide the classes homogeneously.
They are 6 levels of education, divided in two cycles,
with the possibility of reaching the own objectives
of each level in a month of lessons and of fulfilling,
therefore, the complete cycle in 6 monthly courses.
Activities
The school has an intense program of cultural activities
during the afternoons, included in the cost of the course,
such as lessons in the school on subjects of historical,
political and musical interest, meetings and interviews
with economic operators in traditional sectors of the
local economy, meetings with local administrators, visits
throughout the Wine Way, bars and wine properties of
the commune that produce some of most famous and appreciated
wines of the world, a guided visit to the natural oasis
the Bolgheri (only from November to April), visit to
the museum of Populonia on the Etruscan Coast and to
the Etruscan tombs of the zone and visit to the places
of historical interest of the Commune.
